THE Lions Club of Crediton 2018 Easter Egg draw was, as in previous years, a great success, this year raising almost £1,500 for good causes.
Lion Eric Parkes, president, The Lions Club of Crediton, said: "The Devon Air Ambulance Trust will benefit by £750 and a cheque will shortly be presented to the charity.
"The remainder will be used to support other Lions activities in the community.
He added: “Without the myriad of supporters of Crediton Lions Club we would not be able to achieve so much.”
He said that 20 Giant Easter Eggs made by John Bull confectioners in Yorkshire were raffled in a wide variety of locations.
He added: "We are indebted to all of them who did so well in support of the Lions.
"This includes the following locations, The Red Lion, Shobrooke; The Red Lion, Tedburn St Mary; The Mare and Foal, Yeoford; The Malt Scoop, Lapford; The New Inn, Coleford, The Stables, Cowley (2); Buccaneers Bar, Crediton; The Tom Cobley Inn, Spreyton; The Railway, North Tawton and the Lamb Inn, Sandford.
"Other locations in Crediton where tickets for eggs were sold by Lions members included Downes Crediton Golf Club, The General Sir Redvers Buller, Three Little Pigs, Morrisons and the Farmers’ Market. We thank all those locations for allowing us the time and opportunity to sell the tickets."
Each egg was the first prize in each individual prize draw and 20 lucky people were able to tuck into a feast of chocolate each.
Mr Parkes added: "If anyone in our community would like to consider joining Crediton and District Lions Club and helping with our aim TO SERVE and Support the community wherever we can, please don’t hesitate to call us. The commitment is not as great as you would think."
