NEXT month, February, Abi Sansom, from Crediton, will make a return visit to Uganda with the North Devon charity, Edukid, which works to support children in their education in Uganda, Cambodia and Palestine.
Abi, who last went to Uganda with a party from Crediton Methodist Church Youth in February 2017, will meet up with Oscar, the young lad she met last year, who lives with his aunt, and is sponsored by the Crediton Youth at the Methodist Church.
She will also meet Solomon, whom she and her mother have supported since meeting him last February.
Solomon lost his dad five months before their visit in a freak road accident resulting in him falling out of education due to financial restraints.
Three siblings also lost their education until additional sponsors enabled them to continue their studies.
Abi will meet the Edukid sponsored children and also children waiting to be helped. She will help explore the needs and treatment of children and adults with physical disabilities and help initiate two new projects – a coffee plantation and a livelihood programme.
She will again visit the Tailoring project – run by the parents/guardians of Edukid children.
Anyone wishing to support Abi with any stationery items, small games or toiletries that she could take with her is asked to please drop them off at Crediton Methodist Church.
Abi would like to give Solomon a wind-up wrist watch if anyone has one spare.
