A SECTION of the A377 in the Newton St Cyres area will be closed overnight for resurfacing work next month (May).

From Wednesday, May 1 to Sunday, May 12, the A377 will be closed between Newton St Cyres Primary School to Quicke’s Traditional overnight (seven nights).

However, on Thursday, May 2, the road will remain open until polling stations close at 10pm.

Work will not take place during the weekend or on May Day Bank Holiday, Monday, May 6.

Then from Monday, May 13 to Wednesday, May 15, the section of the A377 through Half Moon will be closed.

All night time closures will take place from 7pm with the road reopening each day no later than 7am each following morning in order to minimise disruption to daytime traffic on this busy route.

People who live or work within the area of the closure will be allowed access to homes and businesses during the night-time closures, although they may be asked to wait a short time until it is safe to do so.

Pedestrians and cyclists who dismount will be able to use the pavement where there is one.  Access will always be maintained for emergency vehicles.

An official signed diversion will be in place via the A396, Bickleigh, A3072, Crediton.

As with any road closure the recommended diversion route must use roads of equal category, although motorists with good local knowledge may use minor roads to work their way around the closure and short cut the diversions.
