MOTHERING Sunday was traditionally the time that all in “service” would return to their Mother Church.

Dating back to the Middle Ages, people would return to the church where they were baptised as children of God.

Today it is an opportunity to give thanks for all who have nurtured us in life, it may be a parent, grandparent, Godparent or friend, who has looked out for us in life.

We all need “mothering” from time-to-time and need to give thanks for those who have made a difference in our lives.

At St Lawrence Chapel on Sunday, March 10 there will be a traditional Evening service to celebrate Mothering Sunday, beginning at 6pm.

There will be an evening service at 6pm at the Chapel on the second Sunday of every month.

Watch the notices on the gate and in the Courier for future dates.  The April one will be on April 14.

Throughout the year there will be other events including an Open Afternoon on Saturday, June 8 and the Patronal Weekend on August 10 and 11.

The beautiful Chapel is available for use at other times.
