THERE was a warm welcome for Crediton baker David Oliver when he was inducted as a new member of Crediton Boniface Rotary Club by president rotarian Paul Smith.

David, his wife Diane, together with son Brian and daughter-in-law Teela work in the business in Crediton's High Street.

Their other son, James, his wife Louise and son Dylan, live in Bedfordshire.

Born at Oxted, in Surrey, David had a short spell as a chef after leaving school but by a twist of fate he ended up working in the baking industry.

Although baking necessarily takes up a great deal of time (especially early in the morning) David and Diane are learning Spanish and as far as sport is concerned, he plays the occasional game of golf and enjoys watching Exeter Chiefs at their new rugby ground at Sandy Park, Old Rydon Lane, Exeter.

He was introduced to members, many of whom are customers, by past president rotarian Fred Oliver (no relation!).
