ON the afternoon of Wednesday, July 10 my wife and I - and many other parents and grandparents - went to Landscore School Sports Day.

We had a lovely afternoon there but on leaving we saw a traffic warden issuing parking tickets to some cars.

The only thing I could see, perhaps wrongly, was that the cars were parked near junctions going into housing estates.

There were no yellow lines, the vehicles were not obstructing anyone. The drivers had to park somewhere.

This event is held once a year and lasts for about two hours.

This heavy-handedness is not needed from a traffic warden - shame on him!
