POLICE officers have arrested a young man in Francis Court this afternoon, Thursday, November 24, after a suspected “stabbing” incident at or near the Spar shop in Crediton High Street.

Officers were seen by local residents with a young person in handcuffs in Francis Court following the alleged incident just after noon.

Late this morning, Crediton High Street was closed between North Street and Market Street.

More than four police cars were at the scene in addition to an ambulance and the Devon Air Ambulance Critical Care Team car with paramedics.

The Spar shop has been sealed off with police tape and officers are on duty around the shop.

Police have re-opened the High Street to traffic.

There were more than three police cars at Francis Court and a police dog unit.

The condition of the person who was allegedly stabbed is unknown.

Police checked the town’s CCTV system to assist with their enquiries.
