A TRAILER with five cows inside overturned on the A377 just outside Crediton near the entrance to Downes House on Friday morning, November 7.

The incident was reported to the fire service just before 6.30am. It sent firefighters from Exeter Danes Castle to the scene immediately.

When they arrived, they called for backup, and a second fire engine was dispatched from the same fire station.

Crews used a Tirfor winch to get the cattle out of the trailer, which a Land Rover had been towing.

The road was closed and later reopened at around 9.15am.

No injuries were reported and the condition of the cows is not known.
