A TRAILER with five cows inside overturned on the A377 just outside Crediton near the entrance to Downes House on Friday morning, November 7.

The fire service was called to the scene just before 6.30am, and it sent out firefighters from Exeter Danes Castle immediately.

When they arrived, they called for backup, and a second fire engine was sent from the same fire station.

Crews used a Tirfor winch to release the cattle from the trailer, which had been being towed by a Land Rover.

The road was closed but has since reopened as of 9.15am.
