CREDITON firefighters joined efforts to put out a blaze that destroyed a house and damaged an adjoining cottage in Holford, Somerset on Saturday, June 7.
After receiving multiple calls at around 10.15am, the fire service initially mobilised three fire appliances from Nether Stowey, Williton and Bridgwater.
Because the fire was spreading to a cottage next door, it stayed on the phone until everyone had evacuated from both properties.
When fire crews arrived at the scene, they found the fire “well alight” and called for backup, and shortly afterwards called again for more backup as the blaze was spreading quickly.
The fire was brought under control just after 3.15pm.
Nobody was hurt. Ten fire stations attended the incident in total.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
