CREDITON Methodist Church looked somewhat different on Saturday, December 11, when there were 45 Nativity Scenes around the sanctuary for the Nativity Festival.
Some of the scenes were tiny and others were life-sized.
Sets had been loaned by a number of people associated with the church and others.
There were several knitted sets and others were also handmade.
One set made by a lady during lockdown was featured in the “Courier” in August and she kindly agreed to loan it.
There were five sets bought in the Holy Land, ones from Rome, from Prague, from Barcelona and New York.
The “Spooky Shepherd” (which featured in the “Courier” on Friday, November 12) has been completed and clothed and joins other shepherds and Mary and Joseph in the chancel area.
About 60 people viewed the Nativity Festival on Saturday and all said how much they enjoyed looking at the various displays and also enjoyed the delicious coffee and cakes served throughout the day.
The Festival will be held again tomorrow, Saturday, December 18, from 10am to 3pm. We look forwards to welcoming you to come and look round.
On Sunday, December 19, the morning service will be a dramatic performance of Joy Story written by one of our own members, Martin Underhill.
This is a telling of the nativity story in verse with adult actors.
Our Carol service will be held at 6.30pm on Sunday, December 19 and the Christmas Day service will be held at 10am.
We look forward to welcoming you to any, or all, of the above.
