THE White Room Creative Space in Crediton will be opening its doors between Saturday, September 12 to Sunday, September 20, for this year’s Devon Open Studios exhibition when 11 artists and makers will be showcasing their work.

The Exhibition will be open from 10am to 6pm during the week, and 10am to 5pm at weekends.

Bindy, who set up and runs The White Room Creative Space says: “We have a fantastic line up again this year and the gallery space, rooms, as well as the hub seating area will be filled with a wide and varied display of work, including painting, drawing, mixed media, printmaking, collage, ceramics, wood and basketry.

“The artists include Belinda Reynell, Jane Welsh, Jess Davies, Laurel Keeley, Paul McCullough, Rosie Brewer, Mandi Smith, Jeannine Rundle, Claerwen Gillesie, Louise Hutton and Frances Parkinson who is one of this year’s Devon Artist Network’s Emerging Artist Bursary Winner.

“All are Devon based and members of Devon Artist Network.

“Many are members of organisations like MAKESouthwest, (formally Devon Guild of Craftsmen), VASW (Visual Arts South West) and Westcountry Potters Association.

“They exhibit and sell their work at shows, fairs and in galleries across Devon, the Southwest, UK and internationally.

“Devon Artist Network have reduced Devon Open Studios from 16 days to 9 days this year, but we are still looking forward to welcoming lots of visitors.

“Each year this includes locals as well as visitors to Devon. Some come just to have a look and enjoy the artwork, maybe going away with a few cards or a small print or piece of pottery, whilst others come on a mission to find a larger piece of artwork.

“We are pleased that a lot of young people, as well as children with parents and grandparents come each year. I hope that the variety of work again this year will mean there will be something for everyone.”

Bindy added: “As well as presenting a varied and well curated exhibition, this is a wonderful opportunity to meet and talk to the artists and to find out more about their work.

“Having a group exhibition certainly helps draw visitors in, but we also encourage everyone to look at other participating studios nearby and to make a day of it enjoying the art and crafts as well as everything else that the town of Crediton, and Mid Devon has to offer.”

The White Room Creative Space is on Lords Meadow Industrial Estate.

It has level access, is wheelchair and pushchair friendly with an accessible toilet and baby changing facilities, a seating area with refreshments on offer, some parking and roadside parking.
