THE weather was not kind when Lapford came together to celebrate 10 years of The ARK, the vibrant hub created at a redundant local shop, The Old Village Store, by Lapford Community Church.

The Christian Church follows a basis of faith adopted from the Evangelical Alliance 2005 Basis of faith, a main purpose of which is serving the local community.

On Saturday, September 13, a Mad Hatters wonderfully bonkers tea party was held, beginning on the village green but forced indoors into the Victory Hall when the heavens opened.

The day began with the church bells ringing, a welcome and opening, Hatherleigh Silver Band and Copplestone Community Choir, hat parade and judging and prize giving following a wonderful tea.

The event was free but donations accepted.
