WORKS are progressing well on the construction of the Sandford Community Sports Pavilion.
At the February meeting of Sandford Parish Council an up-date was given on the construction by Andrew Webb (contract manager), who reported: “work has proceeded at an excellent pace”.
Sandford Parish Council struck Gold with the award of a £75,000 grant by Sport England towards the new Sports Pavilion for the Sandford community.
Additional funding has come from Sandford Parish Council and the community.
The new facility will provide a home, not only for Sandford AFC but also for the community to use, including Sandford School and Sandford Tennis Club.
There will be changing facilities, showers, toilets, a kitchen etc.
The works are being undertaken by Crediton builder, Ross Stephens and the principal designer was Ian Darling of Ian Darling Design.
Mr Stephens said the work was weather-dependent, but added that this had been good lately and the project should be completed in the summer.
