CREDITON’S mixed tennis team delivered an outstanding performance at Christow, securing an emphatic 8–1 victory that sees them sitting comfortably mid-table in Division 5 of the East Devon Tennis League at the halfway stage of the summer season.

The match was played against the backdrop of a majestic rainbow, adding a fitting touch to a golden evening for the visitors.

Nysha Forsey and Guy Ainsley were reunited as a pairing for the first time in a couple of years, having originally made their debut together back in 2015.

Nysha immediately set the tone, producing three crisp volleys at the net in the opening game.

From there, the pair adopted a more measured and consistent approach, focusing on extended rallies and keeping unforced errors to a minimum. Their disciplined play paid off handsomely, as they dominated their rubbers with convincing scorelines of 6–1, 6–1, 6–0 and 6–1.

Donna Harris and Ed Poultney, meanwhile, were playing together for only the second time, following their contribution to a narrow 5–4 victory over Newton Abbot on May 1.

They continued to build on that promising partnership by securing all four available points at Christow.

After dropping the first set 4–6 in their opening rubber, they responded strongly to take the match 6–1, 1–0, before going on to win their second rubber 6–3, 6–2 with confidence and control.

The pairing looks increasingly effective, combining Donna’s consistency and experience—having been a member of Crediton Tennis Club since 2012—with Ed’s athleticism and clinical finishing.

Ed, a key member of Joe Cookson’s successful A team squad, continues to impress as one of the top performers in the LTA league rankings.
