CREDITON United FC Ladies team went to Halwill for their final game of the season.

Despite travelling with a slightly depleted side, a superb team performance saw them come away with a 6-2 victory with Cheyanne Coakley grabbing four goals and Leanne Bailey netting the
other two.

Congratulations must go to Katy Harkness who volunteered to go in goal, and to Maddie Taylor who put in a player of the match performance at the heart of the defence, deputising for Rowan Karkeek.

It was also encouraging to see Molly Tomkins get her first full 90 minutes of football after missing most of the season through injury and to see a very impressive debut from 16-year-old Hayleigh Wyles-Smith.

Cheyanne’s four goal tally also saw her finish top goal scorer in the league for the second consecutive season.

That result capped a fine second season for the side, and also saw them secure a runners-up place in the Devon County North/West Division, behind a very strong Bradworthy side who only lost once all season.

The side managed by Sean Hartrey and assisted by his coaching team of Dave and Matt Hartshorne, Martin Daniel, Joe Gurney and Stuart Tomkins have progressed from their fourth place finish last season.

The arrival of Emma Cooper, Jas Hodge and Rhiannon Morley pre-season, and the mid-season signings of Antonia Nash, Aurora Norvella, and Reyes Humbles has definitely given the side a greater depth than the previous season.

All have been valuable additions to the squad which still has a strong backbone of ex-Crediton Youth players.

At the recent club presentation event, Rachel Baker was awarded the Coaches Player of the season, with Erica Guppy taking the Players Player award and Cheyanne Coakley the Top Goal Scorer award.

The players and coaches can now look forward to a well earned rest prior to start of the pre-season schedule.
