FISHING form at Creedy Lakes, Crediton, was steady during the week leading up to March 16 with a couple of low 20’s out and also a nice tench specimen weighing 5lbs has hit the bank too.
Catches in the morning period are the most difficult time of the day with things picking up mid day and improving as the day goes on. There have been several fish tempted out of the marginal waters particularly from the three corners of the main lake water.
Best bag of 10 fish came from Newton Abbott’s Stephen Hird who fished up the top end of right bank.
Action came steadily throughout his day session and he finished his visit banking seven double figure commons and his top two catches scaled 19lbs 2oz and 18lbs 3oz.
There were also a pair of singles plus heaviest green tench for the week weighing 5lbs 2oz. Stephen’s combined bag weight amounted to just under 119lbs of fish, a great March result!
A nice result for North Devon angler Danny Passmore over the weekend saw him tempting out a nice specimen common scaling 21lbs 10oz which was heaviest catch out for the week. Danny fished off the mid swim on the far bank.
Heaviest mirror carp was banked by Tiverton’s Lukcaz who tempted a beautifully scaled marked specimen which tipped the scales to 21lbs exactly.
New Buildings angler Steve Tancock returned to Creedy for his second trip of the season and this trip saw him banking four commons. His bag comprised of a 21lbs 8oz specimen together with one of 17lbs, 11lbs and one of 9lbs 4oz.
Honiton angler Tony fished in the first swim on right-hand bank and following a slowish start things really picked up for him that session.
He ended his session with an impressive total of eight fish including a pair of 20’s with his top catch weighing 21lbs 4oz whilst fishing in the first swim on right bank.
Tiverton’s Gary Hurrell fished three-quarters of the way up on the right bank and using cell boillies he tempted a nice 20lbs specimen common carp.
Zolzislaw from Tiverton also had some nice action whilst fishing at the top end of the left bank casting into shallower water depths. He tempted out two commons scaling 21lbs 2oz and 14lbs in weight.
Tiverton angler Ben Penney also had a great first visit of the season which saw him banking two nice catches, both commons of 20lbs 4oz and 11lbs in weight.
Cullompton angler Mark Jenner had his first trip of the season and enjoyed some action banking a nice common of 17lbs as well as losing one fish.
Exmouth angler Simon Bate returned to Creedy after a few years and settled in the swim up past the boathouse on the left bank.
He had a couple of good runs and banked a good brace of 17lbs commons (best 17lbs 6oz) along with one of 12lbs.
Plymouth angler Jamie Gulliford fished mid-way along the left bank and tempted a nice 17lbs 8oz common carp.
Other catches included Harry Collins with four carp up to 14lbs and Crediton angler Mike Izzard with two fish to 19lbs 4oz.
