LOCAL runner Simon Bowen is in training for the Edinburgh Marathon on May 27 and will be running in support of the British Heart Foundation.
Simon chose the charity in remembrance of his late father, Michael Bowen, who had had a triple by-pass heart operation passed away four years ago.
He was well-known in Crediton and owned a jewellers business on the High Street.
Simon, a member of the newly formed Crediton Running Network, ran the 10k First Chance Race in Exeter earlier this month and has previously run a 10k in Plymouth. He is hoping to run a half marathon in Bideford before tackling the marathon in Edinburgh.
Simon explained: "My employers, S W Galvanisers will be sponsoring me along with K J M Services and Chris Reed Construction."
"All my family are being very supportive, especially my daughters Trinity, Grace and Rozanne, who attend Sandford School."
Anyone who would like to sponsor Simon or make a donation can contact him on 07864015545.
