THE sun shone and it was a fitting end to the bowling season for Crediton Bowling Club with a weekend full of finals.

Throughout the season club members had entered different formats and the two days gave the opportunity for 11 finals to be played.

The Men’s Handicap saw Paul Radnor defeat Steve Geatches. As well as the trophy (quite a small one in this case) each finalist receives a small cash prize.

Both the Ladies and the Mens Two Wood competitions were played on the Saturday and this saw Amy Bond defeat Helen Ellis while, at the same time, Michael Tapp was overcoming Allan Gibb.

It was quite a momentous day for Amy as she then returned later in the day to defeat Anne Sullivan in the Ladies Handicap.

In the Men’s Three Wood competition Mike Heywood defeated Steve Geatches and to complete the proceedings on the Saturday there was a chance for players who had never won a competition before to play for the Non-Cup. Here the club’s bar steward Dave Carpenter defeated Graham Tucker.

On the Sunday afternoon, following the finals in the morning, there was a chance for club members to have one final match before bringing the curtain down on yet another season.

The results of the Sunday finals will be shown in the next copy of the Courier which will go on sale on Thursday, October 6.
