A CREDITON woman is set to take on the Great North Run for charity.

Margaret Hawman will run the half marathon from Newcastle to South Shields on September 7 for Alzheimer’s Society.

“It has been a lifelong ambition to run it,” she said.

“To run for such an amazing charity that helps and supports people with dementia and their families is a great privilege.

“Dementia has been part of my family for several years as many who know me know.”

Ms Hawman will be fundraising at Morrisons supermarket in Crediton on Saturday, August 2 and Saturday, August 30.

She has raised as much as £550 at the time of writing.

Alzheimer’s Society is a charity that helps people with dementia. It also funds dementia research.

In 2023, Ms Hawman ran the virtual London Marathon, raising more than £1,200 for FORCE Cancer Charity.
