WITHYCOMBE 36-31 CREDITON II

AS with the 1st XV, after last weekend’s heavy defeat, this week was all about putting things right.

Unfortunately, for the first half at least, things continued in the same vein and by half time we were 36-0 down!

Withycombe were sharp and attacked with real purpose. They were quick to get the ball wide and could seemingly score at will.

Once again, we did contribute to our own downfall by making mistakes but full credit to the Withys who took full advantage.

A frank half-time talk had a positive effect, and we came out with a renewed purpose.

Playing the game on the front foot, we saw a complete reversal of fortunes. The onslaught that we had faced in the first half was now being inflicted on Withycombe, and we managed five unanswered tries.

It was not enough to win the game, but it was enough to be able to take some real positives into next week. Final score 36-31.

This coming Saturday, October 18, the 1st XV travel to Ivybridge, the 2nd XV host Bideford, the 3rd XV head to Bideford and the Colts XV are away at Devonport Services.
