CREDITON Rugby Club recently held its annual Senior Dinner and Presentation of Awards evening at The Waie Inn, Zeal Monachorum.

A full function room, with present and past players, enjoyed an excellent evening sharing in the success of their 2022/2023 season.

There was representation from all of the senior teams -  First, Second and Third senior Mens teams, Colts, Women’s and U18 teams and Walking Rugby.

Awards were presented by President Roger Holloway.

Chairman Liz Goodman, spoke of the great success across the entire Club.

These were some of the Clubs highlights she mentioned from the season:

The First XV team have played 26 games, Won 23 and Lost three.  They have been undefeated at home all season.

The Club has had players involved with Devon RFU and the Chiefs Academy.

A total of 131 players played senior rugby this season - 87 have come via the junior section.

CRFC had achieved the highest ever league finish for its First XV and Second XV teams.

Its Women’s team finished Second of their League and had the amazing opportunity to play at Twickenham.

The Colts proved themselves to be in the top three in Devon and only narrowly missed out on making the Cup Final.

Lilly Plowman from the U18 girls represented England.

It was the best finish in the Merit Table for the Third XV team, they are the most reliable Third team in Devon.

In her speech, Liz Goodman thanked the Club for the pleasure of being their Chairman.

She concluded in saying how Crediton Rugby Club is a leading light and a role model to Clubs far and wide.

She said: "We are a Community Club with over 500 members, the future is bright, the future is definitely black and amber."

U18 Girls Player of the Year - Frankie Ellis; U18 Girls Best Tackler - Tilly Pulfer; U18 Girls Most Improved - Lara Hill; U18 Girls Players Player - Poppy Barnes.
