NORTH TAWTON 36 - CULLOMPTON II 14

WITH respect to the players who took to the field for North Tawton it was a very patched-up side that faced Cullompton II, some players coming out of retirement to pull the shirt on, this because of the absence of many first team players for various reasons.

Both sides started evenly, end to end stuff but it was Cullompton who struck first, a converted try giving them a 0-7 lead.

This was followed by their second try, also with the kick added, its 0-14 and not looking good for this makeshift Tawton side.

A try for North Tawton, their first of the day, scored by Brad Wilton his first try for North Tawton, the newbie playing out on the wing, looking a good signing for the Tawts.

Missed kick, we go to half time 5-14.

We started the second half with a lot more go from the home side and it was not long before the Tawts closed the points difference to 12-14 with a try from Si Quick. Kick added by Jack Phare.

What followed was not makeshift rugby.

The young, the old, the semi-retired of North Tawton took complete control of this game.

A try by James Miller, with another conversion by Jack Phare, gave North Tawton the lead, 19-14.

Tries followed from Glennon Walters, 24-14, Conner Mathis 31-14 and finally Jack Phare with the last play of the day giving us the final score, 36-14.

That was 31 unanswered points and the best performance by a North Tawton side this season.

Man of the Match was Jack Phare but there were enough old heads on the field in the shape of Goss Miller/Si Quick to guide the Tawts over the line when it could have gone pear shaped, maybe its going to add a bit of spice in the future.
