TOTNES 38 - NORTH TAWTON 19

SOME days things just don’t go your way, the ball won’t sit up for you but it does time-after-time for the opposition; the ref just won’t see it your way - that was the feeling I got leaving Totnes on Saturday afternoon (December 17).

North Tawton travelled to the South Devon club in high hopes of finishing the year with an away win but a poor start with a conceded try in the first five minutes meant that they were always chasing the game, a game which as it went on got further away from them.

The forwards struggled to get any clean ball to get the backs up and running, this might have been because of the ref’s interpretation of what is offside but as most would say, what do I know?

Standing in the North Tawton section of the crowd more than one comment was heard re the offside rules and the position of the hooker at line-out time, oh for a TMO.

Having said all that Totnes played a good game and as the final score suggests won well scoring six tries with four conversions to give them the bonus point.

Tawts never gave up as usual and three tries of their own by Alex Dennis, Ben Sharp and that hooker chap again gave the score some respectability to the final score - Totnes 38, North Tawton 19.

All in all may be a match to forget. Have a good Christmas and come out refreshed in the New Year.
