EXMOUTH 2ND XV 46-21 NORTH TAWTON RFC

NORTH Tawton travelled to Withycombe to play the away fixture because of the unavailability of the Exmouth pitch.

Exmouth, who sit top of the league, proved to be too powerful for a North Tawton side.

While the scoreboard doesn't lie, we never gave up and tested the home team on several occasions when they had the ball in hand; their three tries are evidence of that.

With their fast-running, keeping-the-ball-alive style of rugby, it soon became apparent why they are top of the league.

Using their outside centres along with the wingers, they at times seem to run around the Tawton defence at will.

It was a different team altogether that dropped their only points of the season when drawing with North Tawton at Taw Meadows.

Exmouth ran in eight tries, sometimes in quick succession, not giving the Tawts any time to settle or get any rhyme of their own going from a restart.

If any weakness could be found in the Exmouth side, it was in defence when North Tawton had the ball in hand and took the game to them.

All in all, a game best forgotten for North Tawton and time to move on to the next.
