Crediton Second XV 42 - 26 Ivybridge RFC
CREDITON RFC Second XV bounced back from their opening league defeat with a 42-26 win at home to Ivybridge.
The game started with both teams playing with a high intensity, running hard with purpose and putting together some very nice plays.
The first half was an even affair and at the break we held a 14-12 advantage. It was two tries a piece, but crucially we had converted both to just one from Ivybridge.
After the break we came out the blocks early putting pressure on the Bridgers. A quick try extended our lead but the loss of Tom Ronchetti with a cut to the head meant a reshuffle in the backline.
Ivybridge didn't give up, but a few injuries and a yellow card leading to a penalty try saw them down to 13.
We continued to pile on the pressure with another try but with the scrums now uncontested, we relaxed a little and Ivybridge seized on the opportunity to run in two easy tries in quick succession.
Our lads who had the final word, scoring the final try of the game to win 42-26.
Ilfracombe 41 - 0 Crediton 3rd XV
The Third XV travelled to play Ilfracombe 1st XV with 14 players and were defeated 41-nil. Unavailabilities across the men’s squads always hit the Third XV hard and so those who made the trip can take great credit in making sure we fulfilled the fixture on what was Ilfracombe’s Sponsors Day.
Ivybridge 32 - 19 Crediton Colts XV
The Colts headed to Ivybridge for a friendly and let the home side race into a 25-nil lead. They battled back with tries from Solomon Plowman, Ozzie Kent and Hayden Vooght, two of which were converted by Jake Kibbey to get within one score at 25-19.
We pushed hard but it was Ivybridge who had the final word, scoring a converted try to make the final score 32-19.
