CREDITON RFC 2ND XV 26-52 BRIXHAM
THIS week we welcomed Brixham 2nd XV to Blagdon and, despite coming away on the wrong side of the result, there were plenty of positives to take from an entertaining contest.
The first half was evenly matched throughout, with both sides enjoying periods of possession and producing some good attacking rugby. We matched Brixham score for score, with each team crossing for three tries, and at the break the sides were locked together at 19-19.
The second half began in much the same fashion, with us competing well and staying right in the contest for much of the third quarter. Unfortunately, a few lapses in concentration proved costly and allowed Brixham to capitalise, scoring a couple of relatively straightforward tries to create some breathing space on the scoreboard.
To the lads' credit, heads never dropped and we continued to battle until the final whistle. That determination was rewarded with a fourth try, securing a bonus point and ensuring our efforts were recognised in the league table.
Overall, it was a fine display from both sides and an entertaining game of rugby. While there is disappointment at not taking more from the match, there were plenty of encouraging signs and some good passages of play that we can look to build on in the weeks ahead.
Scorers: Euan Philip, Solomon Plowman, Joe Rees, Chris Hooper; Conversions – Jake Kibbey (3).
