CREDITON Girls Rugby teams swept the board at Paignton during the weekend of September 15 and 16.

The Under 13s and Under 15s beat both home side Paignton and visitors (Bideford/South Molton), and the Under 18s beat an amalgamated team of Paignton/Bideford.

The U13s on their debut appearance, with a few players new to the game, as a team showed good skills; excellent defence – tackling well, good ball handling and aggressive running creating a number of tries.

The second game was abandoned with the unfortunate injury of Crediton player Georgia Scott McDowell, who ended her day with a trip to hospital for a check up, with good news that nothing was broken, just bruised.

Tries for U13s were scored by Georgia Scott McDowell, Jess Denham, Charley Baker, Lucy Cross and Tilly Pulfer.

The U15s showed passion and experience in both their wins.

Some excellent decision making such as with chip kicks over the opposition were used to get them out of trouble.

There was great support work, quick offloads to support players, allowing many breaks over the game line and the creation of try scoring opportunities.

The try line was defended well, not allowing many scores against.

Again the games were slightly marred by a number of injuries, again with a trip to hospital for Alicia Stebbing who is still waiting to hear on results of a suspected broken arm.

The Crediton U13s result was 20 v Paignton 10.

The Crediton U15s result was 50 v Bideford/South Molton 5.

Tries for the U15s were scored by Millie Twigg (2), Eloise Blatchford, Holly Yeandle, Amelia Richards, Chloe Brown, Alex Tamlin, Laura Cooper, Katie Salter, Eva Lewis and Caitlyn Yeandle.

It was a great win for Crediton U18s, the team with a few players still relatively new to the game, Mille Martin, Georgia Burrow and Evie Chadney, showed some lovely handling and support play to take a clear win with no score against.

It finished Crediton 50 and Paignton 0.

Tries for U18s were scored by Evie Longworth, Grace Gillard, Libby Baker, Grace Eckford, Millie Turner – Conversions by Grace Eckford and Rachel Poole.

We wish all those injured a speedy recovery, thanks to all the coaches and parents who assisted with the first aid and here’s hoping for some rain to soften the pitches.
