MORE thank 150 students from eight primary schools in the Crediton area competed in the Crediton Learning Community Tag Rugby tournament on Wednesday, December 6.

Students from Hayward’s, Landscore, Copplestone, Bow, Cheriton Bishop, Yeoford, Tedburn St Mary and Sandford attended the event held at Queen Elizabeth’s School’s Barnfield campus to battle for the trophies.

Most schools have been playing tag in PE lessons and some had expert coaching after school in the run up to the tournament.

After three hours of muddy mayhem, Bow beat Tedburn in the Shield final, and Sandford beat Hayward’s to win the cup competition.

Year 9 students from QE ran and umpired the competition for Year 5 and 6 students as part of their sports leadership qualification and all were a credit to their school.

The primary events at QE now pause for Christmas, with the next event in the New Year for Year 1 and 2 in the sports hall at the Western Road campus.
