DURING the last couple of months, the committee has started refurbishing Morchard Bishop Sports and Social Club house and outside veranda area.

They started off updating the electrical system, which badly needed doing, followed by updating the emergency lighting. Next they installed a brand new fire alarm system, bringing the building up to modern standards.

All the carpet and upholstered bench seating has been removed, which is being replaced by refurbished tables, bar stools and new chairs.

A new sink, cupboards and shelving have been installed in the bar, back and front cellars, which is a great improvement on what was there before.

The old snooker room, will become a new tv room, ready to watch sport such as football and rugby.

The bar area will look a great deal better with two sets of double doors, opening onto the new concrete veranda area, which will be ideal for anyone wishing to drink outside in the sunshine.

The committee hope all these improvements are met favourably with club members both past and future, as a great deal of the work has been carried out by volunteers, who have worked hard to help make this happen.

It is hoped the club will reopen in mid June.
