THE annual charity skittles competition at Sandford Cricket Club reached its conclusion on Friday, November 3 with “Jumpers” a team from Graphic emerging as the winners.
Organiser, Nicky Radnor commented that although the number of teams was slightly down (due in part to half-term and Bonfire Night) the takings had been boosted by a donation of £157.50 from Phil and Pam Matten’s ruby wedding party.
Following the play-offs Nicky thanked Sandford Cricket Club for its continued support and its donation, the teams, the bar staff and all those who had made donations, either in the form of money, raffle prizes or reduced engraving costs, as without them the event would not be a success.
She then presented Paul Leach of “Yeoford Yokels” with his prize as the highest scoring man in any one game (first round).
Other winners were Rose Misselbrook (Westernlea Warriors) and Westernlea Warriors, the team which scored the highest number of pins in a single leg in the first round.
The runners-up shield was presented to “Alan’s Avengers” and the winners shield to the “Jumpers”.
A buffet and game of “Killer” for the Chris Clement Cup followed, which was won by Mark Theedom of “Theedoms”.
The funds raised will go to a special school in Chris’s native St Lucia, which supports pupils with developmental difficulties.
