QUEENS Badminton Club of Crediton had a number of players competing at the annual Devon Restricted Badminton Tournament held in Torquay last weekend.

On the Saturday the Mens and Ladies Singles and Mixed Doubles events were played.

The Mens Singles was a fiercely contested event and Jamie Roberton and Mac Powell both did very well, reaching the semi-finals, while Ben Watkins won the plate event for first round losers.

In the Ladies Singles, Sarah Preece was delighted to win and so retained the title of Devon Champion which she won last year.

In the Mixed Doubles event Jamie Roberton became Devon Champion, playing with Claire Hannah from Cranford, while Hannah and Sarah Preece both reached the semi-finals, with their respective partners.

The Mens and Ladies Doubles were contested on the Sunday, with Queens having some success in both events.

Jamie Roberton and Simon Brassington were runners-up in the Mens Doubles, while sisters Hannah and Sarah Preece triumphed in a hard-fought final to retain the title of Devon Ladies Doubles Champions which they won last year.
