GB Coach, Richard Powers travelled from London to lead the course and QE thanks all the PE team for giving up their weekend to complete the programme!
QE said it aims to offer students the widest possible range of sporting experiences, hence it was enabling students to don boxing gloves.
A spokesman said that what inspires and engages students varies enormously between them so QE is constantly seeking new opportunities and evolving what it offers.
The “BOX” initiative is a non-contact, technical and physical form of boxing. Students do not, at any stage, step into a ring and box against each other. That is not what “BOX” is all about. BOX is about discipline, accuracy, fitness, and coordination.
During the forthcoming year, QE will be rolling “BOX” out to students in Key Stage Four. All teachers in the PE department successfully passed the course and are now fully qualified to teach it.
The gloves are on order and the PE team is keen to introduce its students to this brand new initiative. What a knock out!
