ON Sunday, October 15, a team of parents and staff from Sandford School ran the 13.1 miles long Great West Run in Exeter to raise funds for FOSS, the Friends of Sandford School.

The group, the FOSS Flyers, says Sandford School Head Teacher Lois Briard, who was one of those taking part in the challenge, all safely completed the run and raised more than £2,000 in sponsorship.

She said the money would be used to enhance the children’s educational experiences and opportunities at the school.

She added: “We’re incredibly grateful to all those who have supported the team by donating or coming along to offer encouragement on the day. It was lovely to see the children and families with their Sandford School banners dotted around the course cheering the runners on.

“Obviously we’d also like to thank our fantastic team of runners who undertook the challenge for us, some of whom had never run a half marathon before. They’ve set a fantastic example to the children and given them something to aim towards during our weekly mile run at school.

“The runners have been supported through their training and preparation by Karen and Kate  has done a fabulous job with our fundraising efforts. Another super event for the Sandford School community!”

Sandford School is now looking forward to an open day for prospective parents on Thursday, November 16, from 2pm.
