THE Amber Foundation has been supported by the Crediton Boniface Rotary Club for many years.

Earlier this year the charity, which supports young people at Ashley Court, a supported housing centre in Chawleigh, was delighted when outgoing president Mike Davis selected them for a grant.

Rotarian Mike had heard that the charity’s football team was looking for a kit sponsor so decided to include them in his annual distribution of donations to local charities.

Rotarian Nick Yarnold said: “We at Crediton Boniface Rotary like to support, where possible, all parts of our local community.

“The Amber Foundation is an important part of this. We know that physical activity such as football is great for mental health so are very pleased to support the purchase of this kit.”

The team is delighted with the new kit which arrived at the centre recently.

Becky Fry, Fundraising Manager at the charity said: “Health and wellbeing activities are an important element of Amber’s approach with young people.

“The football team at Ashley Court play regularly in a league in Exeter and in mental health tournaments across the county.

“Having a designed kit is not just about having something smart to wear while playing, it also helps with fostering a team spirit and a sense of pride.

“We are so grateful to Mike, Nick and all the Rotarians for this donation and their ongoing support over the years.”

Amber works with 16 to 30 year-olds with complex challenges.

Without a place to stay at Amber many of the young people the charity supports would be street homeless or sofa surfing.

The charity’s aim is that every young person who goes to stay at an Amber centre is supported to move on to a better, brighter future with a job or a place in education or training plus a safe secure place to call home.

More information including how to refer a young person can be found on the website: www.amberweb.org .

The charity is very keen to engage with the local community, so if you are interested in working with it, please contact Becky Fry by email at: [email protected] or telephone 07808 531699.
