DURING the past two weeks there have been some great catches banked at Creedy Lakes Fishery, near Crediton with varying bag sizes and more fish action happening from lunchtime onwards or very early, even first cast of the day when starting at 5.30am.

Heaviest catch for the fortnight went to local angler, Postman Phil Jefferies, who banked a scale perfect specimen common carp which tipped the scales to 25lbs 11oz. His solitary catch was the only one of the session and was tempted whilst fishing two-thirds of the way up on the left bank amidst the deeper water.

Natasha from Tedburn St Mary had best mirror carp of the fortnight when she banked a lovely old girl which settled at 21lbs on the scales.

Natasha had a great day fishing the boathouse bank and landed a total of 10 fish during her session including nine commons up to 22lbs in weight which certainly made that visit the best of the season for her.

Her partner, James, also shared a good session which saw him banking 11 fish ranging from 6lbs up to 21lbs in weight.

Crediton angler Alan Greenslade who is also a local Postman had a great result recently when he recorded two nice common carp catches, his best specimen tipping the scales to 24lbs 8oz which was a very pleasing result.

Another great couple of visits for Crediton angler Mike Izzard, firstly when he recorded a 20-fish haul on a recent session.

His fish, all commons, were topped by a great pair which scaled 23lbs 12oz and 21bls 4oz. On a subsequent Creedy trip Mike banked a grand total of 18 fish and his bag that day was topped with another nice one, a common of 22lbs 12oz.

Other catches during the fortnight included Crediton’s Mick Youles with his pair of double figured commons best of 19lbs 13oz.
