MY last Bowling Club report stated that Liz Smerdon had qualified for the National Finals to be held this month in Leamington Spa in three disciplines but she has now managed to qualify in all five.

To add to the Foursomes, with Amy Bond, Helen Ellis and Nikki Payne, the Over 55 Pairs with Joan Martin and the singles she can now add the Johns Trophy as a member of the Devon team that will be competing and also the Champion of Champion singles.

As the Crediton ladies singles champion in 2022 she was able to enter the Champion of Champions, competed for by other winners of their club competition.

Having beaten all challengers from Devon recently she came back from the jaws of defeat to overcome the champion of Cornwall.

Crediton Bowling Club wishes her well and all those travelling from the club to the National Finals.

It’s not been a good couple of weeks for the Crediton teams in the Wednesday Over 60’s league.

The A team were soundly beaten 8-0 by Exonia A and now lie fourth in Division 1.

The B team remain third after an 8-0 victory over Chardstock A. This was followed by a 7-1 loss at the hands of Tiverton Boro B.

The C team has had a horrid fortnight and has slipped to sixth in the league. A 6-2 home defeat to Culm Vale C was followed by an 8-0 defeat away to North Tawton A.

In the Exeter District Thursday Mixed League the A team still top Division One with the B team in fourth place.

The C team is currently fourth in Division Two.

There have been quite a few friendly fixtures affected by the weather but in those that did go ahead there were victories by 94-91 against Byeways and then 88-61 to Hatherleigh.
