VISITORS to Mid Devon District Council's Lords Meadow Leisure Centre now know the name of the loveable fish which enjoys nothing more than getting out and about and meeting everyone!

This happy fish has been without a name for many weeks and children were asked to name him and also colour in a picture of the fish.

Last weekend, at a special ceremony, the winners of the colouring competition were announced and the winner and the name selected by those who went along to the Leisure Centre and voted for their favourite from a number submitted.

The name of the fish "Scuba Do" was chosen by Wren Cattermoul (8) of Salmonhutch, with fellow colouring competition winners Hayden Bland from Copplestone and Isaac Major (5) from Exeter.

All the winners were presented with a "goody bag" of gifts, including goggles, water bottles, towels and other useful items from the Leisure Centre and for Wren, a swimming costume as well.

Darren Beer, duty manager, presented the awards and congratulated the winners.

He thanked all those who had taken part in the competition and "Scuba Do" was really pleased to meet the children and Wren, who named him.

"Scuba Do", the Leisure Centre's new mascot, will be attending many Leisure Centre events and spreading the word about water safety and the importance of learning to swim.

He will also be attending birthday parties to wish the special birthday boy or girl many happy returns and having fun at other events and activities at the Leisure Centre, so look out for him!
