SATURDAY, March 5 saw Lapford taking a trip to the seaside to play away against Dawlish United who now have a younger team.

The only trouble was the easterly wind and it was very cold sitting in the stand, for myself and other older people.

Our players were “on song” from the start and the hosts were up against a strong defence, thereby winning by 6-1.

The goals for Lapford came on five, eight, 15, 32, 55 and 61 minutes. The hosts scored on 57 minutes.

Tomorrow, Saturday, March 12 is a home match in the East Devon Senior Cup round two against Lyme Regis.

The last time Lapford played Lyme Regis was in the same cup but in round three with a 5-1 win and played at Axminster on the 4G Pitch.

Since I have been keeping records Lapford have never lost to Lyme Regis, not even in the play-off final for the Premier Division title played at Topsham.

So it could be match number 38 at home unbeaten.

The winners have been drawn away at Crediton Reserves.

Good luck to all. Hopefully the weather will be okay.

Onwards and upwards.
