ELEVEN teams of four took part in the Crediton and District Twinning Association’s annual boules tournament which took place in the Crediton Town Square on Saturday, July 8.
The weather was perfect and competition continued throughout the afternoon. The final for the main trophy was between two teams who had previously won the event: Barclays Bank versus the Incrediboules.
The event has been running since 1989 so is quite historic and this year the winners were the Incrediboules made up of Gerald and Maureen Abdul and Mohsen and Freda Farhoudi who were successful in overcoming Andy Tonkin’s Barclays Bank team.
The Plate Competition (for teams who lost their first game) was won by a team called Bowling Bugs led by Allan Gibb who were playing in their first boules competition.
The three trophies were presented by David Pitts on behalf of his wife Jenni who was rehearsing with the Festival Chorus who performed at the Parish Church later in the evening.
This was a very pleasant afternoon and a good advertisement for the both the Town Square and the Association.
