CREDITON badminton star Dee Weiner was honoured to recently be asked to represent Special Olympics Great Britain At the Yonex All England Badminton championships in Birmingham with three other special Olympics athletes.

She was there as part of the Renewal of the Partnership between the Badminton World Federation and the Special Olympics GB where we celebrated the signing of a renewed Memorandum of Understanding and new Global Badminton Development Strategy, that's designed to increase opportunities for Special Olympics athletes in the sport around the world.

Dee said: “It was an honour to have been one of the first athletes with learning difficulties to have stepped on to centre court on the world stage at the world’s biggest badminton competition in the badminton calendar and to also be involved in the Trophy walk-on, on the semi finals day.”

Dee also took to the court in a doubles demonstration match.
