DOWNES Crediton Golf Club Seniors produced some fine scoring on Monday, July 25 when the duo of Vaughan Gallavan and David Cousins scored an impressive 48 points to win the Joe Liversage Trophy.

Gerry Hodder and Roger Gratton scored 46 to follow in second whilst Kev Woolacott and Pete Carr were the best of the 45’s to finish third.

Russell Cram continued his good form on Wednesday, July 27 to score 43 points and win the Midweek Stableford.

The ladies played a Team Texas Scramble on Thursday, July 28 when the trio of Norma Barry, Trish Wallis and Anne Woodger scored a fine nett 62 to take the top spot.

Viv Bailey, Karen Morrish and Angela Storey (nett 63) finished second whilst the team of Marina Caston, Joe Coe and Di Parsons scored a nett 65 to finish in third place.

The Nine-Hole Stableford was won by June Skuse who scored 15 points.

Rohan Hardeman also secured victory in a Nine-Hole Stableford posting 21 points.

Saturday, July 30 saw one of the most eagerly anticipated events of the Downes golfing calendar as the Greenstaff set up a fun and interesting course for the Downes members in the Greenkeepers Revenge.

The quartet who were most up for the challenge was Simon Baker, David Bunclark, Michael Hopton and Graham Scarrott as they scored a nett 54 in the Texas Scramble format to take victory.

Following in second, and also scoring a nett 54, were Alan Barr, Steve Gidley, Ying Wong and Sue Jackson with Jim Dunlop, Neil Wilson, Robin Tooze and Steve Blackmore (nett 54) in third.
