FRIDAY night football at Crediton Youth FC proved to be really popular and helped to clear the fixture backlog caused by the recent wet weather.

It also allowed many parents and friends the opportunity to watch some of the sides in action.

The U13s entertained Twyford Spartans on the main pitch in front of a large crowd.

Goals from Seb Roche and Zac Miller and a hat-trick from Jake Stagg, saw them eventually run out 5-1 winners. Congratulations must go to the visitors who put in a resilient performance on the night.

It was always going to be a tough game for the U11s as they took on high-flying Broadclyst.

Crediton found themselves behind at half-time, but put in a tremendous performance in the second half.

A Josh Stansfield goal put them back into the game and despite a couple of chances late in the game they eventually lost out by the odd goal to the visitors.

Overall, a cracking game of football was played in a great spirit.

Special mention must go to all the Crediton players, but the opposition coaches were full of praise for keeper Isaac Heal and the defence of Ellis Friend, Finlay Cavender and Freddie Peake and to referee Jess Sandland for her part in the game.

The previous evening the U18s travelled to Bideford and played under lights at the Sports Ground.

Their coaches were very impressed by their performance.

They held their own for sometime before eventually losing out 3-0 to the league leaders.

Saturday saw another busy morning at Lords Meadow. The U16s entertained Whipton Youth and after a very close game edged out the Exeter side 3-2. Ryan Sandland scored two goals and Louis Garnsworthy scored one.

It was another useful victory for the U14s against West Hill Wasps. Oliver Baker with a hat-trick and a goal from Ollie Shorey.

Back in action again were the U11s. They had another win against Moors Falcons.

Amongst the goal scorers were Casey Philp, Daniel Southall, Isaac Heal, Josh Stansfield, Oliver Brimilcombe and Riad Abdel-Hay.

Congratulations must go to the Crediton coaches for some very sporting decisions on the day. The U10s hosted Newton St Cyres. They fielded three sides and had some excellent results.

Away from home it was just the U12s who made the journey to Ottery St Mary.

They returned with another valuable three points after a 6-1 victory.

Luis Matthews grabbed a hat-trick, Hayden Richardson Miller a double, and Jimmy Orchard completed the scoring.

Sunday saw the U14 girls return to action after their Easter break, with an away fixture at Moors Youth.

Amy Lockyer led the goal scoring with two, Abbie Carthew, Amelia Duffin, Evie Lewis and Lily-Anne Smith were also on target in their 6-1 victory.

The U8 girls had a great morning at the Devon FA Festival of Girls Football at Tiverton Town FC.

Two sides took part in a round robin event with some great results.
