CREEDY Lakes opened its gates during the morning of Friday, February 27, for the start of the 2020 season.
It was a day of hail showers, sun, sleet and also rain so just about all weathers were experienced in the one day.
There were several keen anglers itching to get back on the bank and also possibly wanting a hotdog to warm themselves up!
Morning form was slow, as it has been over the weekend too, but later in the afternoon there were about 10 common carp, all doubles together with a couple of green tench. Saturday morning form was slow, once again with many hail showers being had throughout the whole day but this weather certainly didn’t dampen anglers spirits.
Excitement for the beginning of the season form was had on Monday morning (March 2) by Crediton angler Mike Izzard, who banked a big one very close to that prize weight.
Mike had been fishing on the boathouse bank but as the wind was so cutting he decided to move. No sooner had he cast out when one of his rods screamed off and resulted in his immaculate common tipping the scales to 29lbs 12oz.
He was fishing from the first swim on the right bank making a very deserved catch, well done Mike and also a new PB catch for him too.
Other anglers also had great sessions, so overall a great start to kick the new season off.
