MONDAY, August 16 saw the seniors at Downes Crediton Golf Club battle it out for the Hip Hooray Trophy.

With conditions extremely difficult, due to the howling winds, scoring was always going to be tricky but golf is always full of surprises.

Paul Willcocks stole the show scoring a brilliant 40 points to take the Hip Hooray trophy and also win Division Two as well.

Wally Phillips took the spoils in Division One with a great score of 38 points and he was closely followed by Colin Parr and Tom Berry who also scored 38 points but lost to a better back nine.

Doreen Warren took top spot in Division One in the Ladies County Stableford on Thursday, October 19 with a good score of 33 points. She was followed by Betty Willey with a score of 29 points.

Division Two was won by Sue Barr who also scored 33 points beating Sue Bonner to top spot who scored 32 points.

After a long and hard season it was time for our champions to battle it out for our champion’s trophy on Saturday, October 21 and with the weather even worse than Monday, with gusts as high as 45mph and the odd shower, it was always going to be a tough day for scoring but Martin Garnsey and Mike Delling had other ideas as they both shot a fantastic score of 69 points with Martin beating Mike on countback to take the champions trophy.

Oliver Greenslade came third with a 71 points finishing his season off in style.
