DOWNES Crediton Golf Club Seniors played their Hip Hooray Trophy, an individual stableford from the yellow tees, on Monday, October 17.
Joe Hull continued his good form, which has seen his handicap reduce from 23 to 19 in 2016, to take the overall victory scoring 38 points. This also saw him top Division Two beating George Crabbe (37 pts) into second with Roger Gratton third, posting 36 points.
Paul Fricker took top spot in Division One with a 38 points total with Graham Pateman second scoring 36 beating Richard Tomkins (36 pts) into third courtesy of a better back nine holes.
Downes ladies took part in a Three Player Texas Scramble on Thursday, October 20 which saw Viv Bailey, Sue Barr and Lyn Parry finish top of the pile scoring a nett 74.
Their 74 total was equalled but with a better back nine they beat Sue Bonner, Doreen Warren and Ying Wong into second spot.
Saturday, October 22 saw the culmination of a long mens domestic season with competition winners over the year competing for the Champions Trophy.
Winning and taking the prestigious title was Richard Dyer with a great score of nett 67. Two players, Chris Bruce and Matt Dyne, followed closely with nett 68’s, Bruce finishing second and Dyne third and the ever impressive Martin Garnsey followed on in fourth beating Tristan Kershaw and Mark Clements with a better back nine.
Following the Champions Trophy competition the evening saw the Annual Dinner and presentation night of the trophies.
Results were: Club Champion (Scratch) – Oliver Greenslade; Buller Bowl (Handicap) – Neil Wood; Scratch Cup (Knock-out scratch winner) - Rodin MacKay; Cossy Scratch Cup (Scratch OOM) - Oliver Greenslade; Thompson Handicap Cup (Handicap OOM) - Tristan Kershaw; Stan Setter Pairs KO – Mark Clements and Steve Bassett and Clubman of the Year – Andy Frankum.
Sunday, October 23 saw a Mixed Grusomes competition played and winning with a score of 34 points were John Veale and Sue Barr.
The Downes Crediton Dartmoor League team travelled to Wrangaton Golf Club for the end of season presentation night on Friday, October 21.
Downes Captain, Graham Dyne, was presented with the Peter Pearman Memorial Trophy for winning the First Division title after a very impressive season, from his band of merry men. Congratulations.
