AFTER all the awful weather over the past weeks it was great to finally see the seniors have a competition on Monday, February 5, with their four ball better ball and the break didn’t stop them from coming in with some great scores.
Jim Dunlop and Robin Tooze took top spot with a brilliant score of 46 points beating Chris Vercoe and Dennis Wright who took second spot with 45 points with Frank Morrell and Roger Wellaway in third with 43 points.
The ladies had a 3-2-1 team competition on Thursday, February 8 and it was a very close encounter with Joyce Gilg, Annet Coles and Linda Gill beating Diane Botterill, Betty Willey and June Mitchell on countback with the score of 64 points to take top spot, with Sue Sparham, Rickie Pawsey and Shirley Stunell in third place with 55 points.
Saturday, February 10 saw a nearly full field for the 1-2-3 team competition and with the course in brilliant condition there was going to be some brilliant scores.
Clive Elliot, Neil Allport and John Warren took first place beating the team of Roger Coates, Matt Coates and Matt Smith who also scored 86 points but lost due to a better back nine, but they beat the team of Adam Hull, Tristan Kershaw and Steve Whyte who scored 86 as well but also lost to a better back nine.
The team of Andrew Chandler, Tracy Chandler and Fran Shrubsole took the best mixed team with a score of 77 points.
