DOWNES Crediton Golf Club welcomed local businesses for the annual Commerce Cup competition, a popular day of golf, networking and fundraising.
Teams representing Stalite Signs, Michelmores, PKF Francis Clark, Sands Consultants, Exe Mortgages, Exeter Finance, Jas Cars, Arque Ltd and Courtney Roofing Services took part in a Texas Scramble competition.
The event was closely contested, but the team from Handelsbanken Exeter produced an outstanding nett score of 47 to lift the Commerce Cup.
As well as the trophy, the winners also received a corporate membership at Downes Crediton Golf Club.
The Club thanked all participating businesses for their support and for contributing to another enjoyable occasion.
Particular thanks went to Lyn Parry and Fran Shubsole, who helped ensure the day ran smoothly, and organised a raffle in aid of FORCE Cancer Charity.
The event brought together businesses from across the area for golf, networking, a meal and refreshments, while also raising funds for an important local cause.
There was a really excellent turnout for the Downes 4BBB Seniors Open on Monday, August 17, with more than 100 players taking part. Seventeen other clubs were represented.
Because of the very dry and hard surfaces, playing conditions were a mixed blessing. However, the scoring was impressive throughout the field, with over half of the competing pairs returning 37 points or more.
At the conclusion of the competition the day belonged to Arthur Moughton and Colin Bishop, with an excellent 49 points to take top spot. Congratulations to both!
It was great to see the event so well supported. The Seniors would like to thank every player who took part and helped make it such an enjoyable day.
Another inter club competition that took place was the Ladies Open. We will report on this and the annual Green Keepers Revenge next week.
