DOWNES Crediton Golf Club Seniors played their May Medal on Monday, May 20 and it was Andrew Chandler who took the honours posting a superb nett 65 (six under par).

This also saw Andrew top Division Two four shots clear of Andy Gibson (nett 69) in second place.

Jim Kenshole topped Division One scoring a fine gross 73 nett 67 with Frank Sanders (nett 69) beating off three others by virtue of a better back nine holes to take second place.

In the Midweek Stableford on Wednesday, May 22 it was Matt Dyne who won with a fantastic score of 40 points.

The Ladies Coronation Foursomes on Thursday, May 23 saw Sue Jackson and Shirley Stunell in fine form as they romped to victory posting an impressive 37 points.

Viv Bailey and Annet Coles finished second with 32 points.

With beautiful weather and a course in superb condition on Saturday, May 25, Downes Crediton staged its third Open of the 2019 season, the Kyrton Pairs.

A 36-hole event consisting of Foursomes in the morning and Betterball in the afternoon, it is always a stern test but the Tiverton duo of Kevin Harper and Simon Budden were up to the challenge scoring 34 in the morning followed by 44 in the afternoon for a 78 total and a one shot victory.

The home Downes pair of Matt Redstone and Richard Dyer took second scoring 77 (35+42) whilst Will Cockerham (DCGC) celebrated a hole-in-one on the 15th in the morning on route to a third place overall with his partner Daryl Pidgeon (DCGC).
