DURING the weekend of August 20 and 21, Crediton sports star Dee Weiner went to Wolverhampton to compete at the Special Olympics Summer series of sports.

In the Special Olympics badminton Nationals for the South West, Dee achieved a gold medal in the singles in Division Two and also a second gold medal with her ladies doubles partner Nikki Welch in Division One.

Dee explained: “We both represent the South West in the Special Olympics.

“It was such a great atmosphere and there were so many people there competing.

“It was so good to be able to see old friends and make new friends too after not competing for so long! It felt good to be back competing again!”
