WENDY Sincock, of Spreyton, has just returned from the British Transplant Games, held in Bolton, with a collection of medals. More than 1,000 transplant athletes took part in this years games which included three local Exeter transplant patients. Stephen Barker won silver in the lawn bowls. Alan Davies also did well in the fishing and although he caught well, did not win a medal. Wendy will be representing the UK in the European Transplant Games to be held in Krakow, Poland, next week. She will compete in seven swimming events, from 50 metres to 400 metres in freestyle and backstroke and will also be part of Team GB in the 2x4 freestyle and medley relays. The games are a way of showcasing the benefits of transplantation with the aim of raising awareness of the need for more people to sign up to the NHS Organ Donor Register. Of the 10,000 people waiting for a life-saving transplant, three of them die each day waiting.
